The Cottage and Lodge are located on a working farm, now in the care of the third generation of our family and has been farmed by the Bentleys since 1937. The cottage is actually the original 19th century gatehouse of the manor house located where the lodge now stands. Bricks from the manor house were used to build the current farmhouse.
The farm combines around 70 head of cattle and approximately 150 acres of arable land. Crops grown include wheat, barley, oats and oil seed rape. We would be happy to give you a guided tour of the farm.
The farm is a great base for exploring miles of countryside walks many of which cross our farmland. We are also ideally placed for exploring South Leicestershire and for visiting the numerous attractions around the East Midlands.
Fleckney is the nearest village and just a mile down the road. Fleckney’s amenities include a chemist, Co-op supermarket, post office, newsagents, butchers, two pubs, a fish and chip shop and a Chinese take-away. There is also a children’s playground on Leicester Road.
As well as the local Co-op supermarket in Fleckney, Tesco in South Wigston, Sainsbury and Asda at Oadby and Waitrose at Blaby are all less than 20 minutes drive away. Waitrose, Sainsbury and Tesco will also deliver directly to the farm.
The butchers in Fleckney is well known locally for great produce and Wistow Rural Centre has a farm shop selling a variety of produce.
